Impressa Doors: Care & Maintenance Guide

Keep your Impressa doors looking and functioning their best with these essential care and maintenance tips. Routine cleaning and regular inspections will extend the life and performance of your doors.

General Cleaning

  • Clean your doors at least twice a year, or monthly in coastal areas.
  • Use a soft cloth, sponge, or soft-bristle brush with a solution of mild soap or baby shampoo and water.
  • Always rinse thoroughly and dry immediately to avoid streaks or residue.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperatures while cleaning.

What to Avoid

  • Never use power washers, metal tools, razor blades, or abrasive cleaners.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals like vinegar, citrus-based products, paint removers, and industrial cleaners.
  • Don’t let cleaners pool near glass edges or sealants.

Glass & Stain Cleaning

  • Use commercial glass cleaners sparingly; avoid dripping.
  • For stubborn stains, denatured alcohol or acetone may be used carefully.
  • To remove oil and grease, try a baking soda and water paste.

Label & Paint Removal

  • Peel labels gently; if they stick, soften with soapy water and plastic wrap overnight.
  • For dried latex paint, soak with warm soapy water and scrape gently with a plastic putty knife.

Hardware & Moving Parts

Hinges & Locks

  • Clean with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry.
  • Lubricate annually with light oil (e.g., 3-In-One®) or graphite for locks.
  • Apply WD40® for added protection and smoother operation.

Folding Doors

  • Clean tracks and bearings, then apply clear petroleum jelly or WD40®.
  • Clean hangers, pivots, and brackets before applying surface protectant.

Inspection Checklist

  • Inspect slabs, frames, stiles, and rails for cracks, warps, or finish damage annually (monthly in coastal areas).
  • Check glass for cracks or fogging—a sign of seal failure.
  • Touch up chipped or faded finishes promptly to prevent further damage.
  • Tighten loose hardware and replace damaged components as needed.
